Comedian Matt Rife has made it into headline news again as he faces more controversy for his comments. However, this time the comedian verbally attacked a 6-year-old, according to the child’s mother, Bunny Hedaya. In her TikTok video, Hedaya states her son had responded to a portion of Matt Rife’s special where he picks on people who are interest in astrology. A response that the comedian appears to have taken offense to, according to Hedaya’s allegations.
Matt Rife’s Latest Controversy
In his special, Rife stated “Just because Jupiter has a ring, and you don’t, doesn’t mean that’s what you’re supposed to look up to for this magical advice.” The TikTok influencers son replied, “Actually, it’s Saturn that has the rings. It has more [visible rings] also. And, you’re mean to girls.”
In response, Hedaya states Matt Rife commented, “Jupiter also has [a] ring. OH!… and Santa [Claus] isn’t real. Your mom buys you presents with the money she makes on OnlyFans. Good luck.” A comment that many say is juvenile. Furthermore, those who are upset with Rife’s retaliation have stated things like he’s “a comedian who can’t take a joke is the funniest thing about him.” Moreover, some individuals have expressed how the comedian appears to have a certain style to his jokes, but seems to be unable to have a child rip one off about him.
Previous Controversial Remarks
Earlier this year, Matt Rife faced mass controversy for a domestic violence joke he said during one of his specials on Netflix. In his special, “Natural Selection,” he spoke about being in a Baltimore restaurant with a friend. The friend noticed a waitress was sporting a black eye. Then, the person commented that they were shocked the restaurant didn’t have her working out of the view of customers. Rife then states he told his friend, “Yeah, but I feel like if she could cook, she wouldn’t have that black eye.”
Furthermore, after joking about domestic violence he told the audience he was just “testing the waters. Then, he stated he figured he start off with the dark humor so “the rest of the show should be smooth sailing.”
Later, after the backlash of his joke flooded the internet, Matt Rife posted a mock apology on his Instagram story. One telling people if they have ever been offended by his comedy to click a link. Moreover, the link would take people to a website where people could purchase a special needs helmet.
Every action Has a Reaction
Subsequently, every reaction Matt Rife has had to individuals who have issues with his brand of jokes, earns him further backlash. Furthermore, his actions, or the lack thereof, seem to suggest the comedian does not believe in bad publicity.
