Information About the Robberies

The Chicago PD is investigating several connected armed robberies that occurred on the night of October 9. The crimes started at 10:30 p.m. and ended at about 12:06 a.m. In these 90 minutes, there were a total of four robberies that happened. The crimes occurred in West Town, Avondale, the West Loop, and at last Buck Town.

Three crimes happened in a total of 15 minutes. The first occurred at 10:30 p.m. at the 2300 block of West Thomas. Police are led to think the victim, a 29-year-old man, was heading home and walking on the sidewalk when a white car drove towards the man. After that, four young adult men left the car and robbed the man. They had two rifles and two handguns.

Afterward, the same four robbers went to the 2900 block of North Albany and proceeded to pull towards and exit their vehicle to rob three men who were walking on a sidewalk. This second robbery happened about two minutes after the first.

The third crime took place around 10:45 p.m. which is 13 minutes after the second, according to the police. But this one took place in the 1500 block of West Warren. What happened was a female security guard was entering a building and the group of robbers went up to the security guard and hit her in the head and then they proceeded to rob her belongings. The fourth and last of the robberies happened in the 1700 block of West Armitage Avenue at 12:06 a.m. However, details about this crime are not yet available. Police are still investigating the robberies. However, there is no one in custody during this time and they did not injure victims except for the female security guard.

RobberiesThis isn’t the first time this has happened

This isn’t the first time a chain of robberies occurred. Something similar has happened in September of this year. In this situation, the criminals robbed five people one after the other in less than an hour on the North and West sides of Chicago. But let’s will talk about only three of the robberies. Officers connected the crimes because all the victims reported being robbed by four men with weapons in a white SUV.

The four men’s spree started at Sheffield Ave and Fremont Street at 11 p.m. The police report said multiple robbers jumped out of a white sports utility vehicle, aimed their guns at a 42-year-old woman, and demanded her purse. In the second burglary, the same thing occurred, but they robbed a 56-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman who were walking on the sidewalk.

For the last of the robberies, a woman named Mary and her boyfriend were robbed by the four men at gunpoint. The couple were going to their home after going to a concert. As they were walking, the robbers drove up to Mary and her boyfriend. They exited their SUV and told her boyfriend to lie on the ground and for Mary to give them her purse. The four thieves checked the boyfriend’s pockets, took her purse, and drove off.

Mary said, “We followed what they said and didn’t try to fight or run, and they just left after.” The bandits didn’t injure any of the victims. As of now, no one has been up into custody and three detectives are investigating this case.
