Welcome to the Phalanx Family Services Pullout Section of the Chicago Leader!
Thank you to all who supported our annual “Juneteenth” event. For our 20th Anniversary, this year was bigger than ever as we celebrated the day in history, June 17, 1865, when enslaved African-Americans in Galveston, Texas were notified of their freedom 2 years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. To mark the occasion, we had free food, music, live entertainment, games, raffles, giveaways, and much, much more.
In June, for the first time in our history, Phalanx Family Services acknowledged National LGBTQ+ Pride Month with a message of support at our front entrance.
Next Event
Next month, we will be hosting our annual “Back-to-School Event” on Saturday, August 5th. As well, this year’s event promises to be bigger than ever. There will be free food, live music, entertainment, games, raffles, rides, school supplies, goodie bags, haircuts, immunizations, COVID vaccinations, and giveaways. We will also be hosting a CityKey ID event and an exhibit area for our community partners who will showcase their many resources and services.
Creating Safe Communities
As ever, we encourage everyone to help eradicate COVID-19 and make our communities safer by getting vaccinated and boosted. We offer shots and boosters every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. We hope you’ll take advantage of this and every opportunity to make our communities safer, healthier, and stronger against the threat of COVID-19.
