Easter Sunday
March 31 is Easter Sunday, the holiest day of the year for many people that are religious. Therefore, many people take this very seriously, and worship as much as they can. Furthermore, However, Easter is constantly moving around each year, and this year it landed on March 31st. President Joe Biden acknowledge this, and decided to include “Transgender Day of Visibility,” a day to acknowledge and to celebrate transgender people.
However, this acknowledgement landed on Easter Sunday, in which it made many people very upset. Christians and Catholics alike are asking for this day to be moved, as it landed exactly on Easter.
Coincidental Timing
Many argue that President Joe Biden understands the significance of Easter to many Christians and Catholics alike. He also understands that Easter should not prevent transgender people from getting recognized and getting celebrated. On the other hand, there are many people that are angered by this sudden decision.
One of these people is Trump’s campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who mentioned that there is only one celebration on Easter Sunday, and it is the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. She also mentions that Joe Biden, as well as the Biden Organization should apologize to the millions of Christians and Catholics that may have been affected negatively by this untimely decision.
However, there are others that are arguing that there should be no problem with celebrating this day of visibility. They argue that Easter is constantly fluctuating, and this celebration would always be on March 31st, without changing whatsoever. Therefore, there are clearly two sides to this argument, and new arguments will surely arise as the days go on.
The Future of This Decision
Many people are applauding this decision, despite it being Easter Sunday. Many are saying there should be no problem celebrating two different things at once. However, there are many people that are very angry, and are demanding a change to be done as soon as possible. However, it does not seem that Joe Biden is going to change this anytime soon and will instead endorse it even more for the coming years.
