Taste of Chicago Moved Back
The Taste of Chicago will not occur in July due to the tight schedule of Grant Park. For years, this event has happened during that time period. However, because of Lollapalooza, NASCAR, and Sueños Music Festival, there is no space for the event to happen in July. The city of Chicago discussed having the event in July still but in another location closer to Navy Pier. However, it was decided instead that the event be pushed back and occur from September 8 to the 10th.
Fortunately, the event will still make a presence. The Taste of Chicago was first launched in 1980 by Chicago Restaurants, and ever since then, more than 4 million people come to the event. That includes Chicagoans, but people outside the state too, in some cases people outside the country as well. The event includes over 50 different restaurants offering a lot of their well-known dishes and food items.
What’s not to miss?
At The Taste of Chicago, there are always hundreds of food options, from desserts to the iconic Chicago-style pizza, the Taste of Chicago has it all. Some of the restaurants that make an appearance are:
- Cynthias Gumbo Express Inc.
- Auntie Vee’s Kitchen.
- Eli’s Cheesecake Company.
- Porkchop.
- Connie’s Pizza.
- Prime Tacos.
- Churro Factory.
- Whadda Jerk.
- Don Paleta.
- Chicago’s Doghouse.
Additionally, there are many more that serve food for this event. Admission is free, and food is available to purchase. It’s the perfect event to attend if someone is foody, and loves to try many different things from different places all at once.
If food tasting is something someone really enjoys, other food-tasting events happen in The Windy City (Chicago). First, there is the Chicago Loop Secret Food Tour, the Taste of Lincoln Avenue, or Uncorked: Chicago Wine Festival.

Second, there are food truck-tasting events such as the Food Truck Festival, Mole de Mayo, etc.
Lollapalooza Is Just as Fun
Lollapalooza another of the city’s popular events is happening from August third to August sixth in Grant Park Chicago. This annual music fest has more than just music to it. There is food, drinks, as well as activities all across the park for people of all ages to enjoy.
Not to mention, this event is the biggest and best for those who enjoy music festivals. There are all kinds of music genres; rock, pop, rap, reggae, k-pop, etc. In the major concert lineup, artists being featured include:
- Lana Del Ray.
- Red Hot Chili Peppers.
- Tomorrow X Together.
- Karol G.
- The 1975.
- Billie Eilish.
- Kendrick Lamar.
- Lil Yachty.
Tickets for the four-day, as well as VIP tickets, went on sale as of March 23, but single-day tickets will be available in the summer. If music and a cool environment are something people out there enjoy, this festival is definitely for them.
NASCAR In Chicago — Summer of 2023
Instead of The Taste of Chicago, NASCAR Street Course Racing will be coming to the City the weekend of the Fourth of July. This is the first time that NASCAR brings street racing to them. The classic races happen in oval race courses, however this summer, NASCAR will be racing on the streets of Chicago.
Before, NASCAR would race at Chicagoland Speedway from 2001-2009, and ever since then they haven’t been back. However, this year will be different. The cars will race along Lakeshore and downtown. Additionally, the race will cover the iconic streets of The Windy City. For example, Lake Shore Drive, Michigan Avenue, and Grand Park.
General Admission Tickets and VIP tickets are on sale now. For more information visit NASCAR’s Chicago Street Race Website. The people of Chicago cannot wait for The Taste of Chicago, Lollapalooza, NASCAR, and many more fun events to arrive in the summer.
The Windy City will be open to anyone that wants to enjoy the events it host.
