The Date of the Incident and What Occurred
On April 16, 2023, a Chicago family did not know their lives were going to change for the worst. At first, it was a completely normal day, until something unexpected occurred. As the mother was driving and she was passing the green light, a stolen car was coming at full speed and ended up crashing into the truck the mother was driving. Although the mother and the two sisters were treated at the hospital and remained in good condition, there, unfortunately, was one death in this accident. A 6-month-old baby was unfortunately murdered in this car crash. This child’s life was only beginning, and these teens managed to turn that around with one action.
Were the Teens Charged With Murder?
Typically, these two teens would be facing multiple charges, and possibly murder charges added on, but they were not. In fact, they were only charged with one thing only. “Two teens accused of causing a deadly crash with a stolen vehicle are facing misdemeanor charges,” according to Fox 32 News. This is incredibly surprising for many people across Chicago, as these two teens ended up taking a life, carelessly. As expected, the majority of Chicagoans, including the family themselves, are not happy at all with what these teens were charged with.
The Communities Response
Overall, the community, as expected, was not happy at all with what they were hearing. Truly, this was completely and utterly unfair to the family, as these teens knew exactly what they were doing and ended up taking a precious life in the process. “Rivera called the misdemeanor charges “disheartening” in an interview with Fox 32 Chicago. In fact, many are absolutely enraged by this act of pure violence. However, many will fight for change within this issue in its entirety. Finally, the community altogether hopes that there is a change in these charges, as this 6-month-old baby did not deserve to lose his life due to a careless act. However, if there is no change there certainly may be a rebellion taking place.
