Information About the terror attack
As two people died in a terror attack, Belgian authorities raised terror alerts in the capital. This crime took place about five kilometers or for Americans three miles from a football stadium. As 35,000 people were watching the Belgium vs. Sweden game, the Belgium anti-terror center set off the terror alarm, and those spectating or playing the match had to leave midway through.
Additionally, the anti-terror center spokesperson, Laura Demullier, stated, “The people of Belgium need to try their best to be actively aware and avoid all unnecessary trips.” She also highlighted that the Belgium police force prioritized the safe evacuation of everyone in the King Baudouin Stadium.
As that was happening, the anti-terror attack center put the terror alert up to a three for the whole country, which is the second highest tier. Also, the alert that was placed for the capital was a four, which considers a “threat, is extremely serious.” But before that, it was a two, meaning the danger was moderate.
Above all, the shooting that occurred three miles away from the stadium took two lives and is being investigated. Currently, the crime isn’t confirmed to be connected to the Israel-Hamas war, but that is what Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and Belgium officials are led to believe. So this case will be treated as a terror attack.
There was a video that contained a person shooting multiple times with a large weapon at passersby. Several new outlets aired this video. A police officer who was on the scene chose to stay anonymous and stated both victims were Swedish. After that, another officer sealed off the neighborhood where the crime took place and refused to say any details about the shooting.
Belgium isn’t the only one raising its terror alarm.
Sweden also placed their terror attack alert on three after there were raids on Koran buildings and more deeds against Islam’s holiest text, which made all if not many Muslims angry. A bunch of anti-Islam activists have burned, shredded, and overall damaged copies of the Koran, in Sweden and Denmark. These two are the most liberal countries in the entire world and permit very strong criticism of any religion, all in the name of freedom of speech.
Because Muslims are witnessing the deconstruction of their word of God, they are taking this as major disrespect. A media outlet that is connected to Al-Qaeda has encouraged violent punishment of anti-Islam activists. That news of this potential retaliation of violence was enough to make Swedes’ SAPO security set the terrorist alarm to a four, which is the second highest on the scale.
Raise the Alarm
Additionally, the SAPO head, Charlotte von Essan, stated during a news conference, “The choice to raise the alarm wasn’t only because of the threats by Muslim organizations but it was a due to many other factors.” The Prime Minister stated during a news conference that officers made arrests in Sweden. Officers made these detentions because they found the alleged plans against Sweden made by some Muslim organizations.
Britain and the United States have gone out of their way and warned that if any nation tries to fight against Sweden, they will face retaliation by their military. However, the Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, demanded extreme penalties against those involved in the burning of the Koran.
