Former President Donald Trump stole the limelight from the Republican’s looking to be the future leader of the United States. The candidates had less than a full day to bask in the glory of their first debate before the former president outshined them by going to jail. Though it is not his first time being booked, it was the first time his mugshot was taken and released to the public.
RICO and other Charges Related to the 2020 Election
The state of Georgia has charged Trump with 13 separate charges, including several fraud and false statement counts and a racketeering charge. Additionally, the former president and his 18 co-defendants had until today to turn themselves in .
One of the co-defendants, former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani surrendered to Georgia authorities the previous day. Those facing RICO charges with Trump are:

Monopolizing From the Booking
Shortly after Trump left the Fulton County jail, his joint fundraising committee began to monopolize from the incident. They did so by selling merchandise featuring his booking photo. Some of which included the words “never surrender.”
Additionally, the former president has used his latest surrender. After his release, Trump sent out a fundraising email saying “walked into the lion’s den with one simple message on behalf of our entire movement: I WILL NEVER SURRENDER OUR MISSION TO SAVE AMERICA.”
Later on he posted his mugshot on Truth Social with the captions:
- “ELECTION INTERFERENCE.”
- And “Never Surrender!”
Afterward, he shared the same post on X, formerly known as Twitter. It was his first post in over two years on the platform. His last one was on Jan. 8, 2021, where he was suspended from the site. Shortly after acquiring the tech company, Elon Musk reinstated Trump’s account.
