Uvalde Massacre
The Uvalde Massacre was a moment that the U.S will never forget. In this senseless tragedy, there were many lives that were lost. Many children and teachers’ lives were taken, for no absolute reason whatsoever. Their families are left with dents, as they mourn the loss of their loved ones. In total, 19 children and two teachers had lost their lives in this massacre.
Therefore, many agree that police response was absolutely devastating. It had taken police several minutes to enter the building and stop the gunman, but the damage was already done. Therefore, many are angry, and absolutely devastated at the response time of these police officers.
The Uvalde Massacre Could Have Been Stopped Sooner
The DOJ reports that this massacre could have been stopped at a much earlier time than it was. Additionally, many politicians are agreeing that the way this situation was handled, was an absolute failure. US Attorney General Merrick Garland had agreed “their loved ones deserved better.”
Additionally, he added that the law enforcement’s response time was a failure.” Therefore, there is a mutual consensus on the fact that the officers could have done much more, much sooner, in order to stop the gunman. In total, it took 77 minutes for the gunman to be taken out. That is 77 minutes that were absolutely wasted, in which the gunman was on a rampage in the Uvalde school. It was also seen on CCTV cameras, where officers were on their phones while the gunman was actively shooting in classrooms.
U.S. Massacres
This massacre remains one of the deadliest in U.S history. However, it is truly devastating how often these type of massacres occur, and how not much action is being taken to address them.
Therefore, it is obvious law enforcement has to learn from something like this, and how they can react sooner to these type of situations. There should not have been a single life lost in this massacre, and many things could have been done to stop it. Therefore, the hope is that a form of action can be taken to reduce the amount of massacres occur in the U.S.
