Vaccine mandates have caused an uproar amongst Americans. But is it hard to differentiate between vaccinated by choice or fear?
A mandate is put in place for the betterment of society, and it is a policy of protection. In most cases, mandates are accepted, complained about at times, but accepted nonetheless. In this day and age, the policy is pivotal if the order is to be brought to a country.
For instance, New Zealand’s leader in Jacinda Ardern takes the safety of their citizens seriously, and with COVID-19 vaccines being distributed globally, the injection has been mandated in New Zealand. So for supporters of this Policy, Ardern is making the best decision possible for the country. But to a free-thinker, it is controlling.
However, to some, it is domination. It is the assertion of power over the weak and powerless. As a result, it becomes more of a political issue than a health one. In New York, citizens have protested in the streets over the vaccine mandates.
Whereas others consider being vaccinated as selling out and taking a dive for money.
Famous Rapper and actor Ice Cube turned down $9 million due to vaccine requirements for a movie role.
NBA star Kyrie Irving is sitting out games while on a $38 million contract to play for the Brooklyn nets because he refuses to be vaccinated.
Chicago Police Officers defy their mayor’s wishes to be vaccinated, and southwest airlines will not place their unvaccinated workers on unpaid leave as planned before, change of heart, or bad for business.
The FDA is pushing the vaccine for children 5-11, which has ignited a political debate in America. They believe it is necessary and better fortifies the youth from COVID-19 as young children begin to contract the virus in more numbers.
People either believe the government is just trying to protect them, or a mandate strips them of their constitutional right to choose. What makes this country unique is that people can choose, but with a choice comes the consequences.
