The weekend is almost here and the temperatures are looking to be warm for the Chicago area. Currently, there is a beach warning in effect until 1 p.m. tomorrow. The National Weather Service shows there will be high wave action mixed with dangerous currents at Lake Michigan beaches. People should expect to see waves reach heights of four to seven feet.
Beach Hazard for Chicago Area
The areas that have been placed in the Beach Hazard conditions are Lake, Northern Cook, and Central Cook counties. Swimming conditions will be life-threatening, especially for those who are inexperienced.
People should remain out of the water to avoid said dangerous swimming conditions. Furthermore, the National Weather Service has advised people not to “venture out onto piers, jetties, breakwalls, or other shoreline structures.” Additionally, there is a small craft advisory in effect until 10 a.m.
Friday Temps
Tomorrow’s high is expected to mid-60s to low 70s. Morning cloud cover will give way to mainly sunny skies for the afternoon. The winds will be coming from the North at 10 to 20 miles per hour (mph).
Temperatures will drop tomorrow evening to around 55°F. The winds will still be coming out of the North at 11 to 18 mph.
Saturday Temps
On Saturday, Chicago will see a high of around 75ºF. However, it will feel like it is in the low 80s in the sun. For the most part, people will see clear skies. The winds will be coming out of the East Northeast at 8 mph with gusts of 16 mph.
Come evening time people will see temps of 61ºF. The winds will be coming out of the Southeast at 6 mph with gusts of 12 mph.
Temps for Sunday
Sunday will be partly sunny and warm with highs around 82ºF. It will feel around 86ºF in direct sunlight. The winds will be coming out of the East Northeast at 9 mph with gusts of 23 mph. For Sunday evening Chicago will see lows of 65ºF with the winds staying pretty much the same.
Holiday High and Low
Chicago will see a high of around 85ºF for Juneteenth (Monday). It will feel almost 90ºF in the sun with brief times of cloud cover. The winds will be coming from the East Northeast at 10 mph with gusts of 21 mph. The low will be 66ºF, feeling like 63ºF, in Chicago.
People should take preventative cautious against the sun’s UV levels. They are expected to be high all weekend long.
