Pregnancy cravings
When a women is pregnant, there is a wide craving range, and different combinations. What is a craving exactly? A craving is a extremely strong urge for one or more specific foods. It is basically a must have, no if, and’s or but’s. There is no exact pin point on why women have these cravings, but there could be many explanations.
When a women is pregnant there are many changes in nutrition. What was this moms previous diet may not be able to feed both her and the baby as well. As well as the baby may effect your body to change so you don’t like things you once did. All of this is normal.
Kelsey Costa says, “While hormonal fluctuations, active ingredients, and nutrient deficiencies are often assumed to drive pregnancy cravings, current research does not robustly support these theories. In contrast, psychosocial factors may play a more significant role. The prevalence of food cravings during pregnancy seems universal across cultures, but the types of cravings and their impacts may differ, implying that cultural context matters.”
Costa is a US-based registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) and nutrition research specialist.
