Chicago Comes Back with the Winter Weather Conditions
Residents in Chicago at this point already know and are aware that the city offers extremely unpredictable weather conditions all yearlong. At this point, it seems as if winter wants to come back to make up for lost winter season snow. Therefore, it is no surprise no more for many to know that winter strikes back in Chicago’s Spring season this year. Essentially this is no surprise but it does worry many at the same time. According to the calendar it supposed to be Spring in March and Chicago is supposed to have warm and sunny days.
However, now it’s expected to snow on Friday morning. Substantially, these weather changes are very concerning, but in fact, this is not the first time that Chicago comes back with winter in the Spring season, more specifically in March. According to FOX32 Chicago, “one of the biggest snowstorms ever in Chicago paralyzed the city on March 25-26, 1930 with 19.2 inches.” Meaning that almost a hundred years ago the city experienced a one of a kind snowstorms on a March, with multiple inches, now, this time might not be the exception for the something similar to happen again or even in the future.
Winter Weather Advisory

According to FOX32 Chicago weather forecast, there is an high chance that it will snow in different counties, they mentioned, that it will take place more likely in the northern region of Illinois. There is also a possibility of accumulating snow for different cities like, Chicago, Minneapolis and Green Bay in Wisconsin. A weather advisory will also be established and in effect from 1 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This advisory effect will take place for McHenry County west through Rockford, extending across all off southeast Wisconsin. This snowstorm precipitation will begin to break out over southern Wisconsin after midnight tonight. Then the snow will drift south Friday morning into the northern tier of Illinois counties.
What Counties and Regions are Going to be Impacted
Furthermore, according to FOX32 Chicago, it is expected for the heavier band of snow to remain in Wisconsin. With this it is also expected for McHenry and Lake counties to get hit with a slushy accumulation of one to four inches of snow. Ultimately the higher totals will be close to the state line in Illinois.
Like mentioned previously Chicago will also very likely see snow once again. However, here in this region, not a significant accumulation of snow is expected at this time. As the snowstorm continues, by Friday, not just regions of Illinois will be impacted. That being said, other major cities, like Detroit, Buffalo, and Syracuse in New York will also get to see snowfall. As of right now, the chilly wind and cold airs are going to continue in the Windy City.
These weather conditions, are definitely going to affect many aspects of the city and other regions. In terms of what it is going to affect, it will affect the traveling situation for many. More specifically, FOX32 Chicago mentioned the following, “travel into and through southern Wisconsin will be difficult Friday where more than six inches may fall in a narrow stripe.”
Stay Safe and Informed
Overall, it is extremely important for residents all across the Chicagoland areas to keep themselves informed. Everyone needs to be aware about how this snowstorm is developing, to stay warm throughout these weather conditions. FOX32 Chicago also emphasizes that the fact that not because as of right now it is still not locked in for sure 100% that there will be an accumulation of snow in the Chicagoland area, this does not mean that it’s been discarded as a possibility.
This is why it will be important to monitor FOX32 forecasts for any course corrections to the storm, as they have mentioned. The city of Chicago is already unpredictable enough with the changes of the weather that occur frequently. It’s very important to be informed to ensure the wellbeing of everyone in the communities.
