A young teen was fatally shot in front of his younger family members, on Monday, March 13, 2023.
Eighteen-year-old Robert Santos, along with his younger niece and nephew, were fired at after a car ride from school. Santos’ sister, Angela, described how he choose to sit in the back seat with his one and six-year-old niece and nephews that day.
Not more than one mile after picking Santos up from school shots reportedly burst through the car. At New Beginnings Church, Angela spoke with news reporters about the incident.
“A car came flying past us, and it sounded like they threw something at the window – and Robert’s like, ‘I’m hit,'” Angela said. “It did hit like the metal part of the car, and one shot only – and it hit him in his back, and he died.”
The family’s trip to the laundromat did not last long. The car took only one shot, quickly hitting the teen as he sat next to his niece and nephew. Fearing that an ambulance may take too long Santos’ sister drove him to a nearby hospital. Santos was later pronounced dead. And while Angela blames herself for not arriving at the hospital fast enough she claims “he took care of us until the very end.”
There are no arrests for those involved. However, Angela claims that her brother’s death is likely planned by someone close to him. During her talk with news reporters, Angela asks not to share her last name during this tragedy.
Now in the wake of the young man’s death the family, he is remembered as someone who loved his family dearly.
