Zoom, a video conferencing app, has made its way onto Apple TV 4K. Now, users can conduct meetings thrown their television along with their iPad or iPhone.
Earlier this year, Apple introduced tvOS 17. Additionally, they announced that FaceTime calls were going to be available on the Apple TV 4K. Furthermore, the company stated they would be offering similar features for Zoom and Webex apps by the end of the year. True to their word, the Zoom app started to roll out at the start of December.
Zoom on TV
In October, Apple released prerequisites for using Zoom for Home TV. Furthermore, in this document, the video conference company shared that Sky and Sony TVs can be configured as Zoom for Home devices.
The app can be used on the following Sony television models:
For 2023
- X75WL.
- X80L.
- A80L.
- X85L.
- X90L.
- X93L.
- X95L.
For 2022
- A75K.
- A80K.
- A90K.
- A95K.
- X80K.
- X85K.
- X90K.
- X95K.
- X90S.
- Z9K.
Furthermore, it will work with Zoom for Home TV version 5.15.0 or higher on Sony TVs. Also if it has TV firmware: ver.6.7240 or higher. Or Camera: BRAVIA CAM (model name: CMU-BC1).
Sky TV Users
Sky TV users will be able to download the app if they have:
Moreover, to download the application, people will need to either visit the Sky app or Google Play Store. However, some Sky Glass TVs will have the video conference app auto-installed.
Apple TV 4K Users
The Apple TV does not have a built-in camera. Subsequently, the company has found a solution to this issue through its Continuity Camera feature. This solution allows people to utilize videoconferencing on their TVs utilize a nearby iPhone or iPad camera wirelessly.
Prior to using the TV for Zoom meetings, people will need to log into their account. However, if people want to avoid typing their credentials they can utilize a pairing URL on your iPhone. Furthermore, both the TV and iPhone/iPad need to be on the same Wi-Fi network.
In addition to needing a second-generation or later Apple TV 4K, the app tvOS 17.0, an iPhone with iOS 17+ or an iPad with iPadOS 17+. Additionally, it is recommended to use a camera mount to keep your device secured when using the Zoom app on the TV.
