A 17-year-old, Byrion Montgomery, has been charged with first-degree murder along with other felonies for a home invasion that took place in Bolingbrook, Illinois. This alleged domestic-related home invasion left three people dead, one woman injured, and two children unharmed.
Montgomery is being charged as an adult with nine counts of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, home invasion, aggravated battery with a firearm, and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, according to the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Moreover, the suspect’s bail has been set at $20 million. Montgomery was due to appear in court last Tuesday.
Bolingbrook Murders
Bolingbrook’s Police Department stated that the suspect had been dating the teenage girl who was murdered during the home invasion. The suspect’s family has declined to comment about the 17-year-old’s charges.
Around 8:15 p.m. Bolingbrook officers responded to the 100 block of Lee Lane located just off Route 53. Police discovered four individuals had been shot when they arrived.
Pronounced deceased at the scene were two juvenile girls and a man. A 34-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Two boys, 3 and 14, were inside the Bolingbrook residence at the time of the shooting.
The Victims
Two of the victims have been identified as Samiya Shelton-Tillman, 17, and Cartez Daniels, 40. The unidentified third victim was Daniels’ 9-year-old daughter, stated relatives.
The mother of Shelton-Tillman was in critical but stable condition. She has been under the care of doctors at the Good Samaritan Hospital.
Investigation
Additionally, around 10 p.m. Bolingbrook officers took Montgomery into custody. One neighbor heard gunshots shortly after arriving home.
Moreover, another neighbor’s son had been playing a video game online with one of the victims. The boy informed his mother about the situation saying “He heard gunshots go out, and then he didn’t hear his friend anymore.”
Furthermore, Bolingbrook officers were at the scene until about 5:30 Monday, April 10, morning.
