Chicago extended the deadline for the Chicago Resiliency Fund 2.0 program until 11:59 PM on December 31 of this year. This past Thursday, Mayor Lori Lightfoot and the Chicago Department of Family and Support Services announced that those who missed the previous deadline now have an extended time to apply.
This program gives out a one-time $500 to residents who are in need. The program has already assisted over 4,000 residents. Currently, the program still has 2,000 available spots left.
This payment is supposed to be part of a relief program. The city approved $10.7 million that will be provided to those who were not included in previous relief funds.
There are certain requirements that residents need to fulfill to be eligible for this program. Firstly, people have to be 18 years or older. This new round of payments is directed toward those who have adults that depend on them, or adult caregivers. This applies to those who filed a dependent on their 2019 taxes. Including parents or caregivers housing their college student, income-qualifying undocumented residents, or taking care of a family member with a disability. Finally, the household income must only be at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level. Also, there is only one application allowed per household.
In addition, two local organizations are in charge of taking in applications. The organizations are the Chinese Mutual Aid Foundation and The Association House Chicago.
All eligible applicants must submit their application online to be able to the lottery. If chosen as a winner they must provide proof of eligibility and they will receive their one-time payment.
