Chicago and High Crime Rates
Chicago is certainly at the top of the list when it comes to crime and violence. Week after week there are several shootings and several wounded and deceased people across Chicago. It is truly an unfortunate thing to be a witness to, as many of these victims were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Many people across Chicago have access to weapons and therefore commit the acts that they do. However, there seems to be nothing done about this issue, and it continues to plague and terrorize the entire City of Chicago. Memorial Day weekend was incredibly full of crime.
Memorial Day Weekend Havoc
Many families are left devastated across the City of Chicago during Memorial Day Weekend. What is supposed to be a weekend of joy and remembering our fallen soldiers, turns into chaos with several shootings across Chicago. It’s was a violent and deadly Memorial Day weekend in Chicago with at least 53 shot, 11 fatally, stated the police.
In just a span of three days, there were several people that were shot, some fatally. In fact, this was one of the worst Memorial Days Chicago has seen in several years. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, it was the deadliest Memorial Day weekend the city has seen in eight years.

Therefore, there is a clear increase in gun violence, and many Chicagoans are afraid of what this summer has in store.
The Future of Guns in Chicago
As aforementioned, the summer is usually the worst time for violence in Chicago. However, crime in Chicago happens all the time throughout the year.
Therefore, people continue to try to raise their voices against gun usage in the city. However, nothing seems to be done about this particular issue. However, there is a hope that spans across Chicago, that something is done, and quickly, about this huge issue.
