Today only, Amazon will be taking up to 60 percent off both external and internal disk drives and memory cards from their website’s one-day sale. One of the items on sale is Western Digital’s 2TB Blue 3D NAND SATA SSD, which is listed at $170.
If memory cards are what someone wants, Amazon has the SanDisk Ultra microSDXC card with 400GB capacity on sale for half the retail price. They have the SanDisk’s Extreme PRO Portable SSD with a 2TB capacity going for $260 on the website for much larger storage.
Remember that not all WD and Sandisk storage is on sale, so don’t be surprised if the drive you want does not qualify. But for a much larger external storage, Western Digital’s 10TB Elements Desktop Hard Drive HDD is on sale for a low $175. Amazon typically sells this storage drive at $300, giving consumers a $125 discount.
What’s the Difference?
SanDisk Extreme and the WD My Passport are both capable external storage devices. The SD Extreme is a portable, rugged device that can withstand drops and pocket pressure. This storage mechanism is used for music, video, and picture storage, including documents and PowerPoint presentations.
The WD My Passport unit is more suitable for home and office use. Like the SD, the Passport will survive some hard drops, but like most hard disk drives (HDD), the delicate nature of the disk can become damaged due to weather conditions or extreme pressure on the drive. These conditions may cause damage to the internal disk, causing a loss of data.
The Sandisk Extreme solid-state drive (SSD) does not store files upon a disk, but this drive has transistors and computer chips storage. This drive is also water and dust-resistant, making it a lovely buy. But many HDD drives will allow more disk space at a meager price, but the SSD drive will be more suitable for protecting the files and documents.
Amazon has the 1TB Sandisk Extreme SSD selling for $172.99. They have a few left at the reduced price of $129.99. As for the 1TB WD Passport HDD, they are selling this drive for $49.97. This drive is not part of the one-day sale today.
Does WD Produce An SSD Storage Product?
Western Digital (WD) does not produce a solid-state drive, but the Samsung T7 Shield Portable Solid State 1TB Drive is very similar to the Sandisk Extreme, and it is selling on Amazon for $134.99. But the cost is lower than the SD Extreme. This product is also not on the Amazon one-day sale for today.
So if anyone reading this article wants to take advantage of Amazon’s one-day sale, now is the time to get a move on because the day will be over within the blink of an eye.
