Bobby Knight

About the death

His family members announced Bobby Knight, a basketball coach at Indiana University, died with no cause of death. Knight’s family announced his death on Nov. 1, 2023. When he died, he was 83 years old and was inside his home in Bloomington, Indiana.

He didn’t just coach at Indiana University, he also oversaw the Hoosiers and they ended up winning three different NCAA championships. Knight was also a part of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. And also worked as a college basketball analyst for ESPN up until 2015. Bobby’s family, consisting of his two kids Tim and Pat, and his wife Karen Vieth Edgar, were left in grief when he moved on.

What his family had to say

In a statement on his foundation website, his family said, “Bobby Knight died while being around his family and friends, so he passed on peace terms and with familiar faces near. And we will continue to remember him and all the things he did as a father, husband, and good friend. We will celebrate his life and forever remember him.”

His family also wanted to send out that they were grateful for every single prayer and thought towards the situation and appreciated everything. Additionally, they are glad for the respect of the privacy of their private family gathering, which is something Bobby Knight wanted, and they just wanted to honor what he said.

Additionally, they said, “Anyone with memorial contributions, please make them to the Alzheimer’s Association and the Marian University located in Indianapolis. You can make donations to any of Bobby’s knights’ charities.”

President Pamela Whitten of Indiana University commended Bobby for his unmatched achievements and rare intelligence, it cemented his status as one of the all-time college basketball greats. But in 2008 Bobby announced he was gonna retire and made his son the head coach of Texas Tech Red Raiders. Bobby Knight is the one and only coach in all of basketball history who has won an NCAA, NIT championship, Olympic gold medal, and a Pan Am Games medal this goes to show how good he was.

Bobby KnightAll about Bobby Knight

Bobby Knight was one of the most legendary basketball coaches and was most known for his vigorous behavior. In all of his time as a coach, he has led his teams into winning three NCASS titles and five final fours. He started coaching in 1963 as an assistant. Bobby has ranked the sixth of all time in basketball history because he has 902 wins under his name.

The one team he was known for the most was the Hoosiers. He brought the team to win several national championships while he was their head coach. The first championship for the Hoosiers was in 1976, the second one was in 1981 and the last national championship they won was in 1987. Furthermore, the team came close to winning two more than they entered the semifinals in 1973 and 1992. In a short time, Bobby Knight became one of the most iconic people in college basketball while he was at Indiana University. When this all occurred, he was 29 years old and the Indiana team was at its peak, with a record of 662 wins and 239 losses.

Additionally, the uprising of the legend all started when he was a part of the 1960 national championship team of Ohio State University. And what most don’t know is John Havlicek and Jerry Lucas were also in that team. He later graduated from the Ohio State University.
