Tatum, Bynes

Channing Tatum has a special place in his heart for Amanda Bynes. They co-starred together in “She’s the Man,” in 2006, and that was when the world fell in love with him.

After seeing Tatum in a Mountain Dew commercial, Bynes “fought” hard to get him his breakthrough role in “She’s the Man.” It was the stepping stone he needed to land his crowning role in “Step Up,” which propelled Tatum to stardom.

Channing Tatum could not be more grateful for Amanda Bynes help. When asked if Bynes kickstarted his career, Tatum replied, “She definitely helped. I thank her every day, man. She helped me, she got me in that movie.”

On opening night of “Magic Mike Live in London,” Tatum said, “She definitely helped

Tatum referenced Bynes’ return to the entertainment industry after her highly-publicized downfall when he said,

I’m so happy that she’s killing it now and back on her feet. I love her.

His comments come after Amanda stated she worked hard to get Tatum cast alongside her in “She’s the Man” in her “Beak the Internet” interview with Paper magazine. She stated: “I totally fought for Channing [to be cast in] that movie because he wasn’t famous yet. He’d just done a Mountain Dew commercial and I was like, ‘This guy’s a star – every girl will love him!’ [The producers] were like, ‘He’s so much older than all of you!’ And I was like, ‘It doesn’t matter! Trust me!’”

She got that right!

During the chat, Bynes opened up about how the movie impacted her mental health. She admitted the movie partially contributed to the “deep depression” she fell into afterward.

When the movie came out and I saw it, I went into a deep depression for four-six months because I didn’t like how I looked when I was a boy. I’ve never told anyone that.

Four years later, Bynes announced her retirement from the entertainment business, after she filmed “Easy A.” After she retired a downward spiral of drink and drugs ensued. She was placed under conservatorship, which will be lifted in 2020, arrested for drug possession, and accuse her father of being a ‘sexual predator,’ which he denied.

Amanda is now back in action and ready to relaunch her acting career and the Metro is calling for an onscreen reunion of Amanda Bynes and Channing Tatum.
