According to a Facebook posted by his spouse, Lori Campbell, Bishop Willie James Campbell has passed away. News of the Bishop’s death first came across WGN 9’s feed at 8:48 a.m. CT, on Nov. 7, 2020.
Campbell was the pastor of the St. James Ministries; Church of God in Christ. It is known as the Judah Complex. The church is located in the West Pullman neighborhood of Chicago.
At this time it is unclear exactly why Campbell died. According to WGN 9, the post stated:
The family, St. James Ministries and I are broken and will need your prayers and love. Please allow ample time for processing this huge loss.
According to the St. James Ministries website, Campbell was appointed Bishop in 2009 by the Presiding Bishop, Charles E. Blake. Bishop Campbell was an evangelist and community leader for over 25 years.
He worked extremely hard to strengthen and develop the community’s spiritual relationship with God. He participated in numerous support programs for the Chicago area. Programs like Health Ministry: Annual community health screenings and referrals by licensed physicians, AARC, Chicago Urban League, and Ministers Alliance of Chicago.
He traveled the world serving as a counselor to civil and religious leaders. He was a caring husband and devoted father to their children. The St. James Ministries website also stated that Bishop Campbell held firm to his convictions.
