Chicago’s hidden gems may not be listed on the tour guide. Richard’s Super Premium Ice Cream, the name speaks for itself. One of seven Black-owned ice cream shops. Located in the historic Pullman neighborhood of Chicago.
This hidden gem is the epitome of handmade ice cream. Specialty flavors introduce a ‘Peach Vodka Circoc’ ice cream that serves as a perfectly crafted adult treat and a ‘Banana Pudding’ flavor that is to die for. The list of delight delectables keeps on going, featuring a Fall flavored surprise, ‘Pumpkin Spiced Caramel Popcorn.’
The restaurant truly lives up to its reputation with being rated five stars multiple times; on major sites like Google and Yelp.
Leonard, an everso amazing customer representative, bestowed a round of samples that were very much enticing. So enticing, choosing just one will leave a feeling of a missing piece to a puzzle. The feeling to obsessively indulge is real. With over 20 flavors to choose from, safe to say there is one for every mood.
Given a few details about the company which started in Burnham, Illinois in 1999. The founder of the company, Richard, got the idea of starting an ice cream business in search of a craving that was healthy and craveable.
The price range could be considered a bit pricey, racking $12 for a single pint. However, the probability of eating the entire pint in one sitting is more than likely. Which makes this ‘one of a kind’ delight worth every penny.
As stated the restaurant is a “hidden gem”, literally. The secluded and discreet location could be a near miss when cruising by. The menu also includes food, even full-course soul food dinners, and their very own Popcorn. Not feeling like a sweet treat? No worries, there is something else to eat.
Has food ever changed your mood? Their slogan is, “to create genuine happiness”, and does just that. Tired, stressed, or just had an epiphany? Make your way to Richard’s Super Premium Ice Cream.
