Donald Trump Is Facing Federal Charges for Illegally Keeping Documents

A New Historic Moment In The United States

What is going on right now in the political world is truly shocking news for the entire nation of the United States. This is the first time in the history of the President of the United States that a President gets involved in a legal federal problem.

Donald Trump is now facing legal federal charges for keeping sensitive national security documents from the White House. When clearly he was supposed to surrender them when he left the White House. In fact, he did not just possess these sensitive, confidential documents. He first lied about having possession and withholding those extremely confidential documents.

Donald Trump In The Courtroom

In Donald Trump’s court appearance, when he was in the courtroom of Miami, his lawyers pled not guilty on his behalf. Some descriptions of Trump during the court session are that he was wearing a blue suit and a red tie. As for his behavior, he was sitting silent, although he would occasionally turn and whisper to his attorneys.

He was sitting with his arms crossed. He would also fiddle with a pen and clasped his hands on the table in front of him. Trump seemed like he was more over it than actually taking this seriously. It’s very surprising that he was acting like this, while his lawyers and the judge were debating the conditions of his release.

This Is Not The First Felony That Donald Trump Commits Against The United States

Also, this is definitely not the first charge that he has been responsible for. In fact, he has been indicted with specifically 37 other felonies, including that allegedly willfully he retained national defense information and that he concealed documents in violation of witness-tampering laws in the Justice Department’s probe into the materials.

Also, for making false statements, representations, and conspiracy to obstruct justice. Many of the felonies that Trump has committed fall under the Espionage Act, and violating this Act is extremely serious. This law has been established since 1917, right after World War I.

It is about being strictly prohibited to obtain information, recording pictures, or copying descriptions of any information relating to the national defense. Especially with intent or reason to believe that the information may be used with the advantage of causing injury to the United States.

Donald Trump is being accused of illegally storing classified documents in his bedroom, bathroom, shower, and other locations like his Mar-a-Lago resort. And trying to hide them from the Justice Department as investigators demanded them back. All the charges carry a years-long prison sentence in the event of a conviction.

Donald Trump Says He Is Innocent

Despite all the evidence and all the charges that he is being called upon, he still pleads not guilty and is not taking accountability. He stands for his “innocence” and is painting himself as the victim of political persecution. He even attacked the Justice Department.

Former Attorney General Bill Barr said, “In fact, they approached this very delicately and with deference to the president, and this would have gone nowhere had the president just returned the documents. But he jerked them around for a year and half.”

This shows that Trump had no intention of returning all the confidential documents even after he had been asked to return them. Also that he was doing whatever he wanted with them for that long. Which is why he has gotten to the point where he is now.

After Court

Donald Trump still has the audacity to say that he is the victim and that the judge does not “like him”. Even posting senseless statements on social media like, “This case has nothing to do with the Espionage Act” and, “ONE OF THE SADDEST DAYS IN THE HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY. WE ARE A NATION IN DECLINE!!!” Trump claims that he had every right to have possession of those documents and that this entire case is ruining the country.

Furthermore, after his court hearing appearance, he headed to a Cuban Restaurant. Where he actually made more claims that it was not his fault. Also that he is the victim, etc. He even offered to pay for the food of everyone.

Then his supporters proceeded to sing him the Happy Birthday song because his birthday was the following day. This entire case just shows how Trump still has lots of Republican supporters. Also that he is sticking to his “innocence” and his “rights,” even though the truth is clearly presented.
