Eating Dinner Early
Eating dinner earlier in the day have benefits. New research indicates that having your last meal of the day around five p.m. People who eat their supper later in their day will experience increased hunger and cravings, while those who eat much sooner do not.
Nutritionists suggest meal planning to prevent evening cravings. Consuming healthy fats, foods rich and protein and fiber help satiate a person’s appetite for longer periods of time. Medical experts from Brigham and Women’s Hospital state that when managing weight, eating dinner earlier in the day can improve your overall health. Research also found lower levels of serum leptin (body fat regulation hormone) in people who eat further into the day.
Data and Studies
More studies found fewer calories burned when having dinner early in the day and that late eating can increase fat storage and change gene expression in apidose tissue. These things can be harmful because they lead to obesity. According to U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), obesity is common in the U.S. with about 41.9% of adults being reported as obese in 2017. Between the years 1999 and 2020, the number of obese people jumped from 30.5% to 41.9%. Obesity is linked to illnesses like cancer, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and strokes.
Observation
To understand the correlation between meal timing and its effect on weight, study authors conducted observations to see uncover more information. Scientists had 16 participants who were either overweight or living with obesity ate the same set of meals. Each participant was given time to eat whether it was late or early. Early-time participants ate breakfast in the morning, followed by lunch and dinner.
Late meal participants ate on a delayed schedule, skipping breakfast for the day and fasting four hours until eating their first meal. Each participant tried both diets and researchers found that those who ate later in the day experienced hunger, craving foods with starch and meat. The research data shows how important it is to eat early in the day. People will want food that is not healthy for them when they wait later to eat. The study found that eating dinner earlier in the day is healthier.
Early Supper Benefits
This study can prove to be helpful for future advancements in nutrition and data to prevent increasing obesity.
The storage of fat and bad eating habits, on top of bad sleeping habits, are detrimental to a person’s health. Eating dinner later in the day presents more health risks than benefits. Dieting and meal planning can help mitigate the risk of weight gain and illness.
Abstinence from food can improve metabolism and health. Fasting throughout the day, specifically in the morning, allows the body to remove dead cells to create new ones. Intermittent fasting is when you fast for 16 hours of the day and eat within the other eight. In order for the human body to properly purify itself, fasting must occur. Eating dinner early in the day mirrors the characteristics of fasting.
When in this food-deprived state, the human body is cleansed of toxins and old cells. During the fast, glucose levels are low, so the body will use other unusual means to create fuel for itself. Calorie deficit happens as a result of a fast and is in direct correlation to weight loss. This is because calories turn into fat when they are not worked off, which means fewer calories than less chance of fat.
