Kelly Ripa and her husband, Mark Consuelos, provided 20 homeless students in New York City with college scholarships in September 2020.
Ripa and Consuelos partnered with the Win Foundation to support homeless students in their time of need.
The Win Foundation was established on February 14, 1983. They partnered with St. Mary the Virgin church in midtown Manhattan to open the St. Mary’s house. The house is an emergency residence for homeless women and children.
Today, Win has 11 shelters and over 300 Supportive housing units throughout New York City. It is known to be one of the largest providers of transitional shelter and permanent supportive housing in NYC.
Kelly and Mark are philanthropists — they partnered with the Win organization to help the struggling low-income student on their journey to college. Their donations will provide 20 youth with laptops and scholarships worth $2,000 apiece.
Sixty percent of Win student participants are graduating from high school and will attend colleges nationwide, including Syracuse University, Clark Atlanta University, and Portland State University.
Kelly said, “Mark and I are excited to donate to the students in whatever small way we can. Starting college is a pivotal moment, and being apart of this time is really special for our family. We know each of the recipients has a bright future ahead, and we cant wait to see what amazing things they accomplish!”
In September, Ripa gave low-income students scholarships to help with college. The couple also donated $500,000 to Win last spring to purchase iPads, laptops, and headphones for hundreds of their students.
