Welcome to Phalanx Family Services and our new dedicated pullout section of the Chicago Leader! We are excited about this new partnership and the opportunity to reach more of you through this publication created by The News School. The News School is a community-based training program where young people learn professional journalism, videography, and digital media.
From job placement and wraparound services for reentry citizens to mentoring programs and our annual back-to-school event for youth at Phalanx Family Services, we offer a wide range of free programs, services, and events to address the myriad needs of the residents of Far South Chicago and beyond.

Phalanx Family Services began as a small employment help desk with only 3 employees facilitating welfare-to-work programs on the Near West Side in 2003. Now, I am proud to say we have grown to an organization of over 60 employees facilitating over 40 programs to meet the needs of youth, adults, senior citizens, reentry citizens, the disabled, and many, many more.
This could not have been accomplished without the support of a dedicated staff, committed funders, collaborating partners, and individuals like you. When you succeed, we succeed. And we are happy to play a role in your journey to success.
With so much to offer, we are certain you will find something of interest and benefit to you and your family in this pullout section. Thank you for your interest in us. We look forward to serving you and hope to hear from you soon!
Sincerely,
Tina Sanders
