Welcome to the current edition of the Phalanx Family Services pullout section of the Chicago Leader newspaper!
I’d like to take this opportunity to announce two very special upcoming community holiday events we will be hosting in the month of December. On Saturday, December 3rd, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., or until supplies last, we will be hosting our annual Holiday Tree Giveaway. We have been presenting this special event in partnership with the Christmas Tree Ship for the past 11 years.
On, Thursday, December 15th, from 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., or until supplies last, we will be hosting our annual Holiday Coat Giveaway. On occasions such as these, it truly brings us a great deal of joy to provide these items and see the smiles on the faces of so many grateful community members.
I’d also like to remind you that we are here to help low-income homeowners apply for the Equity Lead Service Line Replacement (Lead Safe – ELSLR) program. This really is a unique opportunity for homeowners to have major water service infrastructure work done at no cost. Please see the “CHICAGO HOMEOWNERS” ad in this issue for more information.
For our biggest news, next year hails the 20th Anniversary of this very organization which was founded on July 1, 2003. Be on the lookout for special events commemorating the occasion being planned throughout the year. We anticipate you celebrating with us.
Lastly, as we segue into the winter season and COVID, flu, and respiratory tract infections rise, we continue to encourage everyone to stay safe, remain vigilant, get tested, and get vaccinated.
