On Wednesday morning, shots were fired in the direction of an off-duty firefighter on the Northwest Side of Chicago. He was not shot but was transferred to the hospital due to injuries to his face from broken glass, report officials.
Reportedly, the firefighter was driving home from work when someone fired shots in the Ravenswood Manor neighborhood.
The gunman was in a car when he/she opened fire at about 6:30 a.m., CT, while the firefighter, 37, was driving in the 2900 block of West Montrose Avenue, said Larry Merritt, police and Fire Department spokesman.
A bullet was fired into the fireman’s windshield causing it to shatter and cut his face.
The fireman has been released from Swedish Covenant Hospital.
The shooter fled the scene. No arrests have been made.
