One of My Best Experiences

EXPERIENCE

Throughout my life, I had multiple good and bad experiences. Some that have made me cry, laugh, smile, mad, and many more. Many can be life lessons and also good memories shared with others. Today I will walk you through one of my best experiences ever.

WHAT WAS THE START?

I had the best time when I celebrated my 13th birthday in Puerto Rico. If I am honest every trip to my Island is amazing but this one was memorable. I had been wanting to celebrate one of my birthdays there for a long time. Since I moved to the United States when I was six years, I had not celebrated it with my dad and the family for a few years.

My grandparent’s cousins, uncles, and other family members wanted to see my mom’s new baby, my little sister who was two. It was an opportunity to also celebrate Christmas over there. Many believe that Christmas is the best spend in Puerto Rico and I can say I agree. The food is so delicious, the lights around the neighborhoods, parranda’s, and many more traditions.

We decided to go around that time as this everyone met my little sister for the first time, I celebrated my birthday and we celebrated Christmas over there. I always go during summer, but my mom and stepdad don’t. It was the first time in a few years they had visited their friends and family members. It was amazing to see how happy they were, but also that we had the time to travel altogether as a new family.

Things I Did That Day

My family and I arrived about one or two days before my birthday. I was so excited especially because my birthday is on New Year’s Eve and I got to see a lot of people I do not usually see. Additionally, I stayed at my sister’s grandma’s house. Usually, I would stay with my dad, but we were spending time with her too.

Every time people arrive in Puerto Rico they just have to eat from Church’s Chicken. Only if people knew is like the best fast food ever. Church’s Chicken in the United States can never compare to the one over there.

Upon arrival, I saw my uncle and my grandpa — fun fact my uncle is 4 years older than me. Later that day I got ready to celebrate the holiday and my birthday. I was sung “Happy Birthday” by my mom, stepdad, and his mom. After I left with my dad and we went to my grandma’s house where I got to it celebrate it with all the people I wanted to.

EXPERIENCESome of my family lived down the street from my grandma, so my cousins and I proceeded to go and have fun with our other cousins. When the whole entire family is together we are a big clan.

We were just everywhere talking to everybody and having the best time ever. I can say those times were the best. Now everybody is all grown up and we do not see each other as much. I remember being all tired by the end of the night that’s how you know you had the best time when you just can’t anymore and fall asleep on the couch.

My Memorable Birthday Experience

Being all together with every single part of the family meant so much to me especially when it comes to celebrating another chapter of my life. I was happy all the time. I usually do not get gifts from like my family like that but I never care because the most important part is everyone being there with me.

Either way, my mom and dad always got me a gift. One of the best parts was when my stepmom surprised me with a Nutella cake. It was so good she and my dad knew exactly what I wanted for my birthday and everyone made it one of my best birthday experiences ever.

Lastly, it was New Year’s and it was so memorable how we all went to the roof of the house and screamed “Happy New Year’s.” It was so beautiful to see all the fireworks through the mountains. I hope that this year I can repeat my birthday and have another experience like this.
