A multitude of questionable red glow lights appeared through clouds over the Atlantic ocean at night time featured in shocking photos captured by pilots. The eerie pictures were posted on Reddit on July 22, 2022.
Where Did The Images Come From?
Through a viral Reddit thread, the pictures revealed big patches “of an eerie red light over the Atlantic Ocean.” The initial poster, a friend of the pilot who took this photo, reported how the pilot stated he had “never seen anything like it.”
While the exact cause for the appearance of these lights is still unknown, Reddit thread commenters discussed possible theories that caused these questionable red glow lights to show up. Some “joking suggestions” mentioned the possibility of them being UFOs or even the “gateway” to the “Upside Down” of Netflix’s hit show, ” Stranger Things.”
Another commenter even suggested how the cause of the questionable red glow lights may be a distinctive fishing strategy. This strategy is utilized by boats that fish for a kind of baitfish, Pacific saury. This suggestion seems to be the most likely cause, but not for certain.
The Pacific saury fish grow to be about 12 inches long and are found throughout the Pacific Ocean, while occasionally found in the Atlantic with other types found as well. These fish are typically utilized for consumption to eat and bait for other, bigger fish.
In the nighttime, using bright red lights typically attract these fish to come to the surface of the water so they can be scooped up easily. So, with this, the definitive cause of these questionable red glow lights seems to lead to the case of saury fishing. However, the true cause is still under investigation. Especially regarding the type of fishing vessel present in that area at that time. Therefore it cannot be confirmed until it is investigated further.
