According to the Fox News Network, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors passed a resolution declaring the National Rifle Association a “domestic terrorist organization.” Additionally, they are urging the federal government to do the same.
The resolution passed on Sept. 3, 2019. It says the United States is “plagued by an epidemic of gun violence.” It accuses the NRA of using “its considerable wealth and organization strength to promote gun ownership and incite gun owners to acts of violence.”
Every country has violent and hateful people, however, only in America does the government give these people access to assault weapons and large-capacity magazines, thanks to the influence of the NRA, according to the resolution.
“The city and County of San Francisco should take every reasonable step to limit those entities who do business with the City and County of San Francisco from doing business with this domestic terrorist organization.”
According to KTVU, the author of the resolution wrote it after the July shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival. Three people were killed in that shooting.
In response to the resolution, the NRA said it was a “stunt” that distracted people from the city’s social problems, such as drug abuse, homelessness, and petty crime. “The NRA will continue working to protect the constitutional rights of all freedom-loving Americans.”
This resolution comes as Democrats are ramping up to crack down on gun ownership after the deadly shootings in Dayton, Ohio and western Texas. Some presidential candidates have proposed buyback programs, which will be mandatory.
