Technology and it’s Importance in Airlines
Airlines are surrounded by many different types of technology, all important in their own way. Any lack of technology can certainly impact the way flights are carried out, and even within the control towers themselves. This connection, if interrupted, can be severely damaging, as airplanes can rely on technology to help get them to their destinations in a safer, faster way. United Airlines, being a very widespread airline service, requires active and working technology at all times, and any minor disconnect can impact many flights.
Several Planes Halted as Technical Difficulty Arose
There has been a reported technical difficulty at the United Airlines Airport. “The issue appeared to have stemmed from a “systemwide technology issue,” according to the airline,” according to NBC 5 News. Ultimately, this resulted in several planes’ flights being halted, in an effort to resolve this technical difficulty.
However, not many people were happy about this decision, as they needed to go to a certain place, and quickly. Surely, this halt angered a lot of people, as they may have been in a hurry to get to their destination. However, this decision was made for the safety of all passengers, and if not called out, may have been severely detrimental.
What About Planes Already in the Air?
This then raises the question, what happens to the planes that are already airborne? “”Flights that are already airborne are continuing to their destination as planned. We’re currently investigating and will share more information as it becomes available,” according to NBC News.
Therefore, planes that are already in the air have “escaped” this technological issue, as it does not necessarily affect them. However, safety precautions are still in place, as technology can certainly be unpredictable.

Has There Been A Solution Made Available?
There have been many workers that have been constantly working at this issue, and shortly after this technological error appeared, it was solved. Therefore, the airline is now back in full function, as planes were given the green light to depart. “We have identified a fix for the technology issue and flights have resumed,” an X posting reads.
“We’re working with impacted customers to help them reach their destinations as soon as possible,” according to San Antonio Current. Therefore, many passengers will still be able to get to their destinations despite this slight hiccup. However, there will be people that will be angry as they did not expect something like this to occur, and deter them from making it to their destination on time.
May There Be A Reason For This Hiccup?
The Airline themselves predicted, that due to the Labor Day Weekend, there would surely be a technological hiccup occurring. “United Airlines last week predicted it would have its biggest Labor Day weekend ever, with nearly 2.8 million passengers in a six-day stretch, ending Tuesday,” according to NBC 5 News. This is the largest Holiday Weekend that they have ever experienced. Surely, because of this incredibly high number of passengers, this may have caused the disruption that had ensued today. However, it is not necessarily clear what may have caused this entirely, and it is still being investigated.
Overall, since this was caught early, this may have prevented something very disastrous from occurring. Additionally, this issue was treated with upmost priority, and was resolved within a very short time. In turn, this allowed many passengers to get to their destination within the timeframe that they had expected. However, there is always a hope that, as technology continues to advance, issues of this nature can occur less and less over time. Finally, United Airlines will continue to investigate, and within the near future find an answer to this question.
