The actor of 53 Will Smith, slapped the stand-up comedian and actor of 57 Chris Rock, on March 27, at the Academy Awards. Smith resurfaced on April 23 in Mumbai, India. When he arrived he was in great spirits, was smiling, and posing for fans for pictures. He arrived in a private airfield in Mumbai where paparazzi were waiting to see him.
This trip was just days after Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith, and Adrienne Banfield Norris. Where Norris addressed the incident with a brief message. “ The whole Smith family is taking its time to heal.” “Some of the discoveries around our healing will be shared when the time is right,” Pinkett Smith stated.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has banned Smith from all events and programs for 10 years starting from April 8, 2022. That includes the Awards he can not be there in person or even virtually.
Smith has publicly apologized to every one he has hurt that night. “I would like to apologize to Chirs. I was out of line and in the wrong.” said Smith on Instagram. “I am a work of progress.”
Rosalie Rock, the mother of Chris Rock, was watching from home and thought the whole slap was staged until she talked to her son. She also stated that the slap had slapped the whole Rock family, not just Chris.
Rosalie said that she would not have taken his awards away from him that he had earned prior to this event.
Rock has been doing his stand-up performances since March 27. He has told his Boston crowd that he is “still processing everything that happened last weekend”. At some point Rock will talk about what happened, “and it will be serious, and it will be funny.” Rock told his crowd.
