Fox News is facing backlash after its chyron flashed “wannabe dictator” under President Joe Biden. Earlier today the White House jabbed back by saying there were probably “787 million things” they could say about the news outlet. Earlier this year, Fox News made a $787 million settlement in a Dominion Voting System case.
The incident occurred last night while footage of Biden delivering remarks about Donald Trump’s arraignment. After his arraignment, Trump flew to New Jersey to speak to his supporters.
Fox News Chyron
Fox News on-screen message read: “Wannabe dictator speaks at the White House after having his political rival arrested.”
Today White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre responded to the media outlet’s chyron.
There are probably about 787 million things that I can say about this. That was wrong what we saw last night, but I don’t think I’m going to get into it.
A reporter on-site asked if the media should take her response as a “No Comment.” To which, Jean-Pierre stated that she believed she has “just commented.”
When it Happened
The onscreen message appeared during the 8 p.m. broadcast of “Fox News Tonight.”
Even though the news outlet’s message did not name President Biden it was clear they were referring to him. The footage showed the president speaking to the nation on the South Lawn of the White House.
Donald Trump was indicted yesterday on 37 federal charges. The charges are related to classified documents seized by the FBI. A few hours later he was back in Bedminster, New Jersey where he addressed the public who gathered at his golf club.
The “wannabe dictator” message was “taken down immediately and was addressed,” according to a spokesperson for Fox News.
