Just days after Camilla and Charles contracted COVID, it has been announced that the Queen, at the age of 95, has also contracted the virus. However, despite having the virus, the Queen sent a message to Olympic medalists from Great Britain. So far, she has reported only having “mild cold-like symptoms,” reports Daily Mail.
Buckingham Palace has confirmed that the Queen had tested positive for COVID. She, however, is expecting to continue light work at Windsor Castle. Several people at Windsor have COVID, and the Queen will continue to receive medical attention and follow protocols as she performs necessary light duties this coming week.
On February 6, the Queen celebrated 70 years on the throne, her Platinum Jubilee at the age of 95, and she is not allowing the virus to stop her. According to Daily Mail, the duties she will be performing are as follows: “likely she will be working from her red boxes, which are sent to her every day, and containing policy papers, Foreign Office telegrams, letters, and other State papers from Government ministers and Commonwealth representatives that have to be read and, where necessary, approved and signed.”
It is believed the monarch has received that COVID vaccine and booster shot, however, there have been some health concerns since October. Her Majesty canceled some engagements and spent the night in the hospital undergoing tests.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson tweeted his good wishes for her today.
I’m sure I speak for everyone in wishing Her Majesty The Queen a swift recovery from Covid and a rapid return to vibrant good health.
On Feb. 8, the Queen spent some time with Charles, who tested positive for COVID a few days later. The Duchess of Cornwall has also tested positive for the virus.
